You will be amazed when you bite into a lobster roll. It is by far the best I have ever eaten. Do not expect ambiance but expect quality. It is hidden at the back of a strip mall but everyone in my family LOVES this place. I have heard the soups are delicious but I keep getting the roll as it is amazing.

Excited to find a local non-chain place where we'll go back again; not too many of those places in SW FL. We had the New England clam chowder, Manhattan chowder, lobster wrap & lobster roll. Both chowders were very tasty & I preferred the lobster roll with the toasted roll over the wrap. Nothing fancy as far as the space but clean. Can't wait to go back & try more. Definitely recommend!

My family and I were visiting the area for vacation. Went to my "Yelp" app to look up seafood markets. #1 on my hit list was Doug's Seafood. Went into Doug's Seafoid to check out the fish selection and discovered the rolls! The shrimp roll was excellent! My wife enjoyed the lobster roll. While there, I ordered some grouper for later in the week to grill. The grouper was delicious! I just went back for another roll before going home.

Best Lobster Roll i've ever had! these guys are from New England, they know what theyre doing. Seafood is fresh, Lobster Roll is full of meat, not too much mayo. Definitely coming back here

I checked out Yelp because my family wanted seafood and was impressed by this hole in the wall that we came across. My husband had the crab roll and crab bisque and he was blown away!!! He loved it. I had the lobster roll and clam chowder, the lobster roll was delicious as expected but the clam chowder was not up to my standards i am a born and raised bostonian, so my expections are really high. It was alittle to thick and it lacked seasoning, but i can say they were very generous with the clams! I will return and enjoy the the crab roll again.

Very, very limited menu. No sides from which to choose. Only bagged chips and cole slaw. Very clean and very friendly service.

Best lobster roll in town.

Tried the lazy man's lobster roll today. I'm not a fan of the traditional roll served cold with mayo. The Lazy Mans is warm with butter. Very good and tons of lobster! The lobster itself was cooked perfect. My only complaint is I wish they would use a better bun. They use a basic hot dog bun. I think If they used a fresh baked roll it would be a lot better. Just my opinion.. Will be back though

The lobster roll was great, a little heavy, but still great!! It was though very expensive given they use the "$" to describe it's pricing on yelp (as in $-$$$$.) for me I got a lobster roll (small), one drink, a chowder (which there are 6 types to chose from and I chose lobster Mac -didn't know that was a chowder??) anyway and I got a moon pie for my son (we split our lunch.) I think I paid $27 dollars? So that's a small roll, drink, chowder and basically a cookie for $27....if I'd bought my son his own roll and drink we'd been at $40!! Either way though it was fun and good. For being a lunch counter though they should probably try and lower the prices just a smidge or two;) there are I waiters and seating is limited. All in all though I will be back but maybe I'll skip the moon pie and the drink?! Shave a little off the bill. $27 is too much for lunch for one and a half when you have to wait I a line to order!! But still it was worth it;) spoil myself a little from time to time lol!!

I have been intrigued for a couple of years and finally went in. Spic and Span clean little storefront shop fresh fish on one side and "Chowdahs" and rolls on the other. Fantastic ney the best lobster roll I have ever had. Great lunch of chips, slaw and a lobster roll that i will say had close to two tails worth of meat on it. Perfectly cooked nothing fancy just mayo, not a mayo fan they will do one with just buttered lobster. Seriously tasty fare. If you need a view of a beach or inlet go elsewhere.

This place is fabulous. Get a lobster roll or maybe the buffet you will not be disappointed. Before you go grab some fresh seafood for dinner and just grill yourself. Excellent meal and seafood market with great prices for both.

Fresh, fresh seafood with a good variety. Had wanted to try this place since my dad, who lives close by, had brought it up. Doug's is open seasonally in Bonita Springs - usually mid-late September through the winter and in to early Summer; they're from Maine. Today I had the shrimp roll, which was dee-lish with its buttered, toasted roll, a side of cole slaw (also good) and chips. Dad had the seafood buffet, which included baked swordfish, haddock, a scallop option, lobster mac & cheese, salmon bake, and Manhattan or New England clam chowder. Needless to say, lots of great, tasty, and fresh options. Dad really liked the salmon bake and swordfish. They also sell fresh fish. It's a small place, but with seating for around 12-14 people and they are expanding. Very clean, friendly neighborhood spot that I highly recommend!

Hidden little gem. Great Manhattan clam chowder and boston clam chowder. Live Maine lobsters to go. Next time we will give the lobster roll a try.

While the lobster roll was outstanding my favorite was the crab bisque soup. $12.95 for an all you can eat seafood soup buffet what a bargain. Do yourself a favor and get to Doug's you won't be disappointed.

They have a medium-sized selection of seafood available, but it is ALWAYS fresh. However, they always have several things I love. I haven't found a better spot to grab fresh fish or shrimp anywhere near Bonita, even if I go late in the morning. Back in Chicago, if I get to the good fishmonger by 8:00 AM, I'm already buying third or fourth tier fish. I've never eaten there so I can't comment from experience, but everyone raves about the lobster rolls.

If you want to be verbally accosted while you shop for seafood, then this is the store for you! The horrible young man behind the counter ruins the entire store.

Spartan, clean, and purposeful. Doug's Maine fisher family ships lobster to its bifurcated storefront in a modest strip center in Bonita Springs,. On the appropriate North side, fresh fish chills on ice for purchase. You can also buy packaged house chowders and fish spreads. On the South side of the store, Floridians and wannabe Floridians who are visitors, patiently wait to devour their fish orders at wooden tables. The most popular selection is the lobster roll. Freshly cracked lobster is mixed with barely noticeable mayo, then plopped onto soft white rolls. Very satisfying.

Walked in to dougs to have my first lobster roll and it wasn't half bad. Food- Had the Connecticut lobster roll and it was quite good. Warm and buttery with plenty of lobster meat and just the right bun to meat ratio. The problem is that after all it is still a fast food greasy style sandwich. If I want that ill go get a burger for a small fraction of the cost. And if I want lobster ill go somewhere where it is prepared without all the grease. Service was average. I don't see a reason to return but the lobster roll was still pretty good.

My husband and I LOVE Doug's lobster rolls! (And my hubby is from Maine, so he knows "lobsta"!) It's not a fancy restaurant, but clean and cozy and they just serve great food! You can come in your shorts and T-shirt They have serve yourself "chowda" too! Their seafood store that's attached is also fabulous! The prices for their shrimp are great, and the shrimp are HUGE and fresh and delicious for $16 or $18 per pound. You won't find any shrimp that size for that price anywhere ! The employees are very friendly and helpful. Overall, we love this place!

This place reminds me of stopping at a roadside lobster stand in Maine right down to the owner's accent. Nothing fancy but the best lobstah rolls in SW Florida!
(5)Elisa B.
This place was awesome! Food and Service was spot on! The cost is more than acceptable for the quality and amount you receive. Clam Chowder, Lobster Rolls, Crab Rolls, everything was great! Took some Grouper, Halibut and Gulf Shrimp home. Definitely returning next year when we are in Bonita Springs.

A hidden gem in Bonita Springs!! My grandma has lived in Bonita for well over a decade...maybe 15-20 years (my how time flies) now...and had no idea this place existed. I went down to visit with her and my dad for 2 days and used my trusty Yelp app to look for "seafood" and "lobster roll". What can I say? It's an obsession. We wanted to go there for dinner Monday but they're only open until 5pm. So, Tuesday lunch time...here we come! Doug's is also a fresh and frozen seafood market and they sell live lobsters. There's an AWESOME seafood lunch buffet on certain days for only $12.95. On the day we were there it featured lobster mac and cheese, 3 kinds of soup (clam chowder, seafood chowder, gumbo), and 2-3 kinds of baked fish. It was tempting, but I was on a mission. I ordered the Lazy Man's Lobster Roll. It is lobster, with butter, in a grilled roll. Then I added a bowl of soup ($5). The lobster roll was pretty damn good, but as a purist I was disappointed that the roll was side-split not top-split (very minor disappointment). The soup (I mixed clam chowder with seafood chowder) was BEYOND. You know how some clam chowder tastes mainly of butter and cream with an afterthought of clams? This tasted of the sea. It wasn't thick, didn't cling to the spoon like white gravy, and the other ingredients used let the flavor of the fish and clams really shine through. Maybe the best I've ever had. My grandma had a crab roll. She said it was amazing and she (90 1/2 years old) ate all of it and said the cole slaw was delicious too. The lobster rolls are available in 2 variations: 1 with mayo, 1 with butter; there's also 2 sizes. Choose wisely. My dad got the BIG Lazy Man's Roll and was so stuffed he had to take a nap. Plan to save room for an authentic Whoopie Pie...made that morning...by grandma. I shit you not. 3 generations are involved in this restaurant and seafood market. Grandson was working the seafood counter, dad was in the kitchen, grandma bakes the desserts in the morning, and friends help man the restaurant counter. This place is nothing fancy inside (order at the counter on the right, get your own drinks and soups) or out (it's at the back of a strip mall) but the food is amazing, the people are great, and it's really rather charming. Can't wait to go back again for lunch and another Whoopie Pie!

Love this little local place. Best homemade soups be England style. There lobster rolls are a must!!! One of my favorite places!
(5)Caroline C.
Love this lobster roll!!!!! This shop reminds me of summers in Maine, you're on the beach all day then you find the nearest shellfish shack for fresh crack-n-eat lobster. Doings is doing it right.

After a failed first attempt, we came back to Doug's and happy we did. We ordered a lobster roll and the seafood lunch buffet. The lobster roll is about what you would expect to pay at 11.95 and was one of the better ones we have tried. The seafood buffet is a great buy at 12.95 featuring grouper cheeks, salmon, grouper, lobster Mac and cheese and three different soups and chowders. Their ordering system is a little strange. Be sure to walk over to the right side of the restaurant where you order then pay. No waitress service as you bus the tables yourself. Food is a solid 4-5 stars. Subtracting a bit for the ordering system. Now that I have it figured out, I would return. They are open all year.

I'm from Boston and go to Maine and the Cape often and the lobster roll I had at Doug's is probably the best I've had. Reasonably priced too! In an odd location, perhaps, but worth the trip.

Great little spot. Shrimps were gigantic and so easy to make at home with their tips. Will definitely be coming back here.

Was sadly disappointed with our experience on a recent late lunch visit. After reading the reviews we expected to have found a new spot to enjoy in Bonita. We arrived to a room full of dirty tables. After we selected our table and went up to order I thought an employee would wipe the table down but that never happened. We tried the chowder and lobster rolls. Did not enjoy the steamer table for self serve chowder. Have hopes that Doug's will improve by our next visit to Bonita.
